Founder and Chairman of the Maximus Capital
Gene Zolotarev has spent the past 20 years in senior management roles in asset management and investment banking for banks active in Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and the Baltic countries; presently the CEO of a Geneva based boutique asset manager Maximus Capital S.A. He is an expert on the CIS region's finance and economic affairs and has been interviewed by WSJ, NYTimes, Financial Tines, Bloomberg and Forbes. SInce 2000, Gene is also the publisher of The Baltic Times baltictimes.com, the oldest and the only English language periodical (print and online) covering political, economic, social and cultural news in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. He is the founder of the Baltic Times Award for Independent Journalism - an annual event honoring young journalists who have made a material contribution to building a transparent, democratic society through strong independent reporting. Mr. Zolotarev has been active in the processes leading to Latvia's joining EU and NATO and served as a board member of The US Baltic Foundation (USBF) from 1999 until 2009. He also lectured a a weekly seminar to undergraduate and graduate students for two years at the Latvian University focusing on global investment and economy. Gene had grown up in New York and has received is Bachelor degree from Columbia University and attended Stern Business School at NYU.
